Smartphone Battery Performance Overall Score:

The Battery Performance Label shows a score between 0 and 100. It reflects the performance based on independent, repeatable, and rigorous testing.

Using various testing criteria, measured using real-life scenarios and live networks, results are collated with calculations from Battery Life, Power Efficiency and Charging results that amount to the total score.

The Honor X7 was positioned in the Entry Tier (€0-€199) based on price. With a score of 41 out of 100 obtained for battery performance, it achieved a mid-table position for Battery Performance Scores for 2021 - 2022. The Honor X7 pulled narrowly ahead of the Nokia G21 with a score of 40 but was unable to catch up with the OPPO A15 which achieved an overall battery performance score of 49 out of 100.

Comparison of SmartPhones in the Entry Tier

These 3 smartphones are positioned mid-table for the Entry Tier Rankings. The Realme 7i and the Wiko Power U20 still remain the leaders with 62 out of 100 for battery performance. The OPPO A57, Nokia G10 and Motorola Moto G30 achieve scores in the 50 mark, all just above the OPPO A15 and the Honor X7, falling slightly behind.

Battery Life

Battery Life - How long will this Smartphone battery last?

This is expressed in “Days-of-Use” and reflects the time in days that a smartphone can be used from a full charge.

Looking into the battery performance results in further detail, in the graph below it is clear to see the results for Battery Life Ratings when comparing these 3 similar smartphones. From a fully charged battery, the Honor X7 provided 1.5 days of use, although the Nokia G21 and OPPO A15 achieved an additional half a day when being used for general daily usage.

Comparison of SmartPhones in the Entry Tier

It's worth noting here, that the OPPO A15 has the lowest battery capacity of 4320 mAh of the entire Entry Tier group of smartphones. With 2 days of usage, it is able to compete significantly well with other smartphones in much higher tiers. Both the Nokia G21 and Honor X7 have 5000 mAh, and the more standard battery capacity of a smartphone in the Entry Tier range.

Charging Times

Battery Charging Time - How long will this Smartphone take to charge?

Time varies to charge different types and sizes of Smartphone batteries. This is expressed in Hours and Minutes.

We test the charging times of every device as part of our testing protocol. The Honor X7 delivered a fast charge of 1 hour and 41 minutes, only a fracture slower than the OPPO A57 with the fastest time of 1 hour and 9 minutes within the Entry Tier group.

Comparison of SmartPhones in the Entry Tier

OPPO invented and introduced fast charging with VOOC, and therefore uses this advanced technology to create incredibly efficient and fast-charging smartphones. This can be demonstrated clearly with the OPPO A15 released in 2021 achieving 2 hours and 30 minutes and the OPPO A57 being over an hour quicker in 2022.

Power Efficiency

Power Efficiency - How power efficient is this Smartphone?

Maximising the smartphone performance while reducing the amount of energy it consumes, with minimal impact on battery life.

It is calculated using Battery Life and Battery Capacity. This is expressed in “Leaves" and reflects a rating between 1 being the least and 5 being the most power efficient.

The Honor X7 wasn't able to obtain the power efficiency results of 2.5 out of 5 of the better smartphones in the Entry Tier. It did have a rating of 1 out of 5 and equalled that of the Nokia G21, although the OPPO A15 managed a slightly higher rating of 2 out of 5.

Comparison of SmartPhones in the Entry Tier

The most battery-efficient smartphones will provide good battery life and reduce the number of times the battery will need to be charged which harms its longevity.

Should I buy it?

The Honor X7 is robust and performs admirably as an everyday smartphone. It does have some feature limitations, not surprising as an Entry Tier, so occasionally you can expect some slowness while launching apps and online pages. Also, when scrolling up fast, the screen froze and extended usage contributed to some heating issues as well.

The smartphone has no waterproof certification and is not 5G compatible although it does come with a 90 Hz screen, which can be considered a bonus.

The Honor X7 is not dustproof or water-resistant, offers no NFC functionality and is not 5G. However, if you are on a tight budget and would like to replace your smartphone - this could be the device for you.
