The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is the new model from the Korean manufacturer for a Mid Tier smartphone. It offers key features like 5G connectivity, a high refresh rate display (120 Hz), expandable storage and a wall charger.

The Samsung A52 is a Mid Tier smartphone in the ViserMark ranking table (Smartphones priced between 200 and 500 EURO). With a price of just over 400 EURO, this smartphone offers 5G connectivity thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720 G chipset powering it. A 4500 mAh battery and a 120 Hz display complete the most essential features of the Samsung A52.

The overall Battery Performance Score is now a global score taking calculations from Battery Life, Power Efficiency and Charging Times.

We gave this Smartphone a ViserMark score of 42 based on the different test results. This score places the Samsung smartphone in the low part of ViserMark's overall ranking, 26 points below the leading Smartphone. With a mix of low Power Efficiency and standard autonomy lengths, the device has a lower Battery Performance score.

Testing Results

BATTERY LIFE - Days of Use

The Samsung A52 autonomy was nearly 39 hours with a 60 Hz refreshing rate compared with 36 hours with a 120 Hz refreshing rate, as shown in Figure 1.

Based on the ViserMark test protocol, The Samsung A52 obtained a Day of Use score of 1.5 days.

The Day of Use ViserMark score for Mid Tier smartphones is 2 Days, placing the Samsung A52 slightly below the average for Mid Tier smartphones.

CHARGING TIME - Hours and Minutes

The charging time to 100% was 1 hour and 37 minutes, with the 25W fast charge option included.

The average Charging Time is 1:40 for a Smartphone within the ViserMark Mid Tier ranking. The Samsung A52 Smartphone achieved an average Charging performance for the Mid Tier range.

Our testing is based on smartphone usage from 100% battery level down to Power Off.

When testing Smartphones, the testing protocol includes everyday life activities, for instance, Calls, Web, Video and Music streaming, Gaming, Social networks, Picture and video capture and standby.

  All testing is performed under strictly controlled test conditions and executed in a defined order and timeline.

Several power-efficient smartphone processors can cope with the growing number of new applications and support high-resolution displays without compromising battery life.

Power Efficiency is calculated using Battery Life and Battery Capacity. This is expressed in “Leaves" and reflects a rating between 1 being the least and 5 being the most power-efficient.

The Samsung A52 obtained an overall Power Efficiency Score of 1. The average score for Mid Tier smartphones is 1.6, placing the Samsung A52 in the low part of the ViserMark Power Efficiency ranking table.

In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G battery performance leaves doubts about both its autonomy and power efficiency. Compared with other Mid-tier devices, the A52 5G is behind several competitors like the Xiaomi Redmi 9T pro, Realme 8 Pro, OPPO A54 5G, Poco F3, and OnePlus Nord CE. To climb to the Top of the ViserMark ranking, the autonomy must be increased at least one more day while maintaining the same battery size.
