Battery Performance


Introduction


The Samsung A52 is classed as a Mid Tier smartphone in the ViserMark ranking table, (Smartphones priced between 200 and 500 EURO), with a price just over 400 EURO, this smartphone offers 5G connectivity thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720 G chipset powering it. A 4500 mAh battery and a 120 Hz display complete the most important features for the Samsung A52.


The overall Battery Performance Score is now a global score taking calculations from Battery Life, Power Efficiency and Charging Times.



Based on the different test results, we have given this Smartphone a ViserMark score of 42. This score places the Samsung smartphone in the low part of ViserMark overall ranking, 26 points below the leading Smartphone. With a mix of low Power Efficiency and common autonomy lengths, the device has a lower Battery Performance score.




 

Testing Results


BATTERY LIFE - Days of Use


The Samsung A52 autonomy was near 39 hours with a 60 Hz refreshing rate compared with the 36 hours with a 120 Hz refreshing rate as shown in Figure 1.


Based on the ViserMark test protocol, The Samsung A52 obtained a Day of Use score of 1.5 days.

The Day of Use ViserMark score of Mid Tier smartphones is “2.0” days, placing the Samsung A52 slightly below the average score for Mid Tier smartphones.

CHARGING TIME - Hours and Minutes


The charging time to 100% was 1 hour 37 minutes with the 25W fast charge option included.



The average Charging Time is 1:40 for a Smartphone within the ViserMark Mid Tier ranking. The Samsung A52 Smartphone achieved an average Charging performance for the Mid Tier range.

There are a number of power-efficient processors, within today's Smartphones, that are able to cope with the growing number of new applications and can support high-resolution displays without compromising battery life.


Power Efficiency is calculated using Battery Life and Battery Capacity. This is expressed in “Leaves" and reflects a rating between 1 being least and 5 being the most power-efficient.

The Samsung A52 obtained an overall Power Efficiency Score of 1, the average score for Mid Tier smartphones is 1.6, placing the Samsung A52 in the low part of the ViserMark Power Efficiency ranking table.

Conclusion


In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G battery performance leaves doubts about both its autonomy and power efficiency. Compared with other Mid-tier devices, the A52 5G is behind several competitors like the Xiaomi Redmi 9T pro, Realme 8 Pro, Oppo A54 5G, Poco F3, OnePlus Nord CE. To climb to the Top of ViserMark ranking the autonomy would need to be increased at least one more day while maintaining the same battery size.
