Battery Performance Score – 32 out of 100

The overall Battery Performance Score is now a global score taking calculations from Battery Life, Power Efficiency and Charging Times.

Based on the battery performance testing results, this smartphone received a ViserMark score of 32/100. With this score, the Motorola Moto E40 is ranked #11 towards the bottom of the Entry Tier table.

BATTERY LIFE - Days of Use

Based on the ViserMark test protocol, the Motorola Moto E40 achieved a score of 1.5 days.

The Average Day of Use ViserMark score of an Entry Tier smartphone is “2.2” Day of Use which places the Motorola Moto E40 below the average and gains a ranking of #90 for the overall smartphone Day of Usage score.

The Motorola Moto E40 joins many Entry Tier smartphones that have managed to reach 1.5 Days of Usage and joins a very competitive area of the Entry Tier, as highlighted below.

This device offers a reliable battery life, although there are more powerful alternatives

CHARGING TIME – Hours and Minutes

CHARGING TIME - Hours and Minutes

The charging time to 100% was 3 hours and 7 minutes, 10W charging.

The Motorola Moto E40 takes some time to power up to the full battery, exceeding 3 hours, and matches the charging time for the Realme 7i. However, the Oppo A5 and Xiaomi Redmi 9 both have slightly longer charging times.

To see the charging times of all the smartphones tested so far, please view the Charge Times Ranking table.

From the table shown below, all the Entry Tier smartphones take longer to charge. Within the Entry Tier range, the average charging time is 1 hour 46 minutes. It is interesting to see that the previous Motorola device, the G30 is also below the average charging time.

However, improvements have been made within the G7 and G8 series, with considerable faster charging times, as the table shows below. Currently, the Motorola Moto G7 has the fastest charging time within the Entry Tier.

POWER EFFICIENCY – 5 Leaf Rating

There are several power-efficient processors, within today's smartphones, that can cope with the growing number of new applications and can support high-resolution displays without compromising battery life.

Power Efficiency is calculated using Battery Life and Battery Capacity. This is expressed in “Leaves", reflecting a rating between 1 being the least and 5 being the most power-efficient.

The Motorola Moto E40 obtained an overall Power Efficiency Score of 0.5

Should I buy It?

In conclusion, the Motorola Moto E40 is an appealing low-cost smartphone. Although it has many good features like the IP52 protection, and large battery capacity there are some major ones missing such as NFC.

Background

Motorola created the mobile communications industry. They have invented most of the protocols and technologies that make mobile communications possible, including the first mobile phone, the first base station and pretty much everything else in between.

Today, Motorola is combining that pioneering spirit with a renewed commitment to consumers. That’s why their phones run on Android, the world's most popular operating system. Android brings the openness that shaped the Internet to the mobile world. That’s also why they are the first company to bring smartphone production back to the USA and allow people to customise their own phone design.

For the past 80 years, their engineers have thrived on invention; on finding new ways to solve problems. Today Motorola continue to look for new opportunities to change people’s lives for the better through the magic of mobility.
