Let’s have a look at the OPPO A16 Battery Performance Testing Results.

Overall Battery Performance Results

With an average price of around 160.00 EURO, the OPPO A16 achieved a good score during our testing, although it cannot match the Realme 7i and Wiko Power U20. Both these smartphones have a larger battery capacity of 6000 mAh, which enables these phones to have 2.5 days of battery life usage.

With a 5000 mAh battery capacity, the OPPO A16 matches that of the Nokia G21. However, this smartphone gained an additional 1-point of 40/100 as a result of demonstrating a faster charging time.

In our testing, the OPPO A16 achieved the following test results:

Battery Performance Score – 39 out of 100

ViserMark Label for Battery Performance 39/100

The overall Battery Performance Score is now a global score taking calculations from Battery Life, Power Efficiency and Charging Times.

With a score of 39, the OPPO A16 was awarded 84th place within our database of all battery performance testing scores. Therefore, it is positioned towards the bottom of the overall rankings for battery performance.

The ViserMark Smartphone Ranking 2021/22 table shows full details of our testing results database.

The Average Battery Performance Score of an Entry Tier smartphone is 36.9, so the OPPO A16 showed a very slight improvement in the average battery performance when tested in our labs.

As shown on the chart below:

A comparison chart for battery life for the OPPO A16

When comparing the official specifications for the OPPO A16 and Nokia G21, there are few comparisons between their weight, thickness and width. However, unlike other smartphones placed in the Entry Tier, neither is splashproof nor dustproof.

Having a screen size of 6.52", the OPPO A16 is a fraction larger than the 6.5" of the Nokia G21. Also, the Nokia G21 has a refresh rate of 90Hz, unlike the OPPO A16, which only has 60Hz.

Our testing environment ensures the following:

  • Based on actual smartphone usage from 100% battery level down to Power Off

  • The protocol includes everyday life activities, for instance, Calls, Web, Video and Music streaming, Gaming, Social networks, Picture and video capture, and standby.

  • Performed under strictly controlled test conditions

  • All activities are executed in a defined order and timeline

Overall, the OPPO A16, with a 5000 mAh battery capacity, did achieve an impressive battery life performance. This reached a top-half ranking of #45 for overall Days of Usage in our database of testing results.

CHARGING TIME – 3 Hours and 07 Minutes

ViserMark Battery Charging Label shows the charging time was 3 hours and 07 minutes to a full charge for the OPPO A16

CHARGING TIME - Hours and Minutes

The charging time to 100% was 3 hours and 07 minutes to a full charge.

The Average Charging Time for an Entry Tier smartphone is 1 hour and 59 minutes.

The OPPO A16 took over 3 hours to charge fully, slightly longer than the Ulefone Note 11 Pro, which took 2 hours and 43 minutes, and the Nokia G21, which had a charging time of 2 hours and 56 minutes.

Although slightly disappointing, the OPPO A16 is significantly slower than its predecessor, the OPPO A15, which has an impressive 2 hours and 30 minutes of charging time. This smartphone is the one that has the fastest charging time from our testing results database within the Entry Tier.

Both smartphones cannot support wireless charging, such as Qi, although the Nokia G21 does support fast charging.

The Average Power Efficiency for an Entry Tier smartphone has a rating of 1.8 Leaf.

A Power Efficiency Score of 1.0 was given to the OPPO A16, falling short of this battery performance level.

The table below shows the Power Efficiency results for the closest challengers of the OPPO A16 within the Entry Tier. You will notice that the Nokia G21 can compete well with the OPPO A16, which has a similar battery capacity of 5000 mAh.

A comparison chart for battery efficiency with the OPPO A16

Once again, the OPPO A16 could not challenge the top positions taken by Realme 7i and Wiko Power U20, and both gained 2.5 as a rating for power efficiency within the Entry Tier.

Should I buy it?

As a budget smartphone, the OPPO A16 is newer than the OPPO A15 and, therefore, offers a good upgrade alternative with many enhanced features such as screen size, display, battery performance and connectivity.

It is light to carry and offers a good user experience due to improvements in resolution for easier viewing. With a triple camera, there are additional features, including digital zoom. Also, the front camera is ideal for selfies and, if required, for video calls.

Being powered with an Octa-core (2.3 GHz, Quad core, Cortex A53 + 1.8 GHz, Quad core, Cortex A53) MediaTek Helio G35 processor, you will be able to multitask quickly, and the 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB offers plenty of internal storage.

This smartphone offers basic functionality and performs well due to its enhanced battery capacity. However, other smartphones like the Realme 7i and Nokia G10 may be considered alternatives for better delivery.
