Product
OPPO Reno Series started in 2019 and the first Reno Smartphone became famous thanks to its unique shark-like fin design which integrated the selfie camera. With the OPPO Reno 4 Series just having been released, OPPO is back to a more conventional front side design now with a selfie camera placed into a small punch on the screens.
The OPPO Reno 4 Series includes three different models, two having integrating displays with higher refresh rates. Even the OPPO Reno 4Z 5G, the entry model of OPPO Reno 4 Series gets a surprisingly good 120Hz refresh rate LCD display. Overall, all 3 models are lightweight, even though integrating a 4000 mAh battery to power their 5G processors. Intriguingly, the OPPO Reno 4 5G and OPPO Reno 4 Pro 5G are equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 5G which has been already seen on many Smartphones this year, while OPPO Reno4 Z 5G gets the Mediatek Dimensity 800.

Test Breakdown
The OPPO Reno4 Series includes three different models, two having integrating displays with a higher refresh rate. Even the OPPO Reno 4Z 5G, the entry model of OPPO Reno 4 Series gets a surprisingly good 120Hz refresh rate LCD display. Overall, all 3 models are lightweight, even though integrating a 4000 mAh battery to power their 5G processors. After a few days of usage, we soon established that with lightweight and excellent displays, all three Smartphones are wonderfully comfortable to use. Here at ViserMark, our aim is to verify if end users will be satisfied with the battery life and performance of Smartphones. We tested and proved the real difference in terms of battery performance across the three Smartphones from the Reno 4 Series.
On taking delivery of Smartphones in our testing lab that integrate screens with variable refresh rates, our ViserMark scores are calculated by averaging results across the different settings.
All three Smartphones within OPPO Reno 4 Series achieved very similar battery life performance with respectable scores starting from 44 to 53. The OPPO Reno 4 Pro 5G and the OPPO Reno 4Z 5G have been ranked with a Battery Life of 1.5 Days of Use, with individual Battery Performance Scores of 48 and 44.
OPPO Reno 4 5G has been ranked with a Battery Life of 2 Days of Use, with a performance score of 53. With its 60Hz refresh rate display and the capability to support 2 Days of Use, it has excellent performance for a combination of 6.4’’ screen/183g body. These results define the OPPO Reno 4 5G Smartphone as the best of the three in the OPPO Reno 4 Series.
Both the OPPO Reno 4Z 5G and OPPO Reno 4 Pro 5G achieves a very solid performance for their specification, with unique features such as:
- OPPO Reno4 Pro 5G is integrating a mid to high-end processor, 6.5’’ 90Hz screen in a 172g body
- OPPO Reno4 Z 5G is integrating a 6.57’’ 120Hz screen in a 184g body
We are delighted to say that both OPPO Reno Pro 5G and the OPPO Reno 4Z 5G Smartphones deliver high-end Battery Life for at least 1.5 Days of Use.
There are a number of power-efficient processors, within today's Smartphones, that are able to cope with the growing number of new applications and can support high-resolution displays without compromising battery life.
Power Efficiency is calculated using Battery Life and Battery Capacity. This is expressed in “Leaves" and reflects a rating between 1 being least and 5 being the most power-efficient.
The OPPO Reno4 Z 5G achieved an overall Power Efficiency Score of 1.5
Best Smartphone for Power Efficiency: Ranking #55
Conclusion
To conclude, the OPPO Reno 4Z 5G Battery Performance Score achieved was 44 which is lower than most Mid Tier devices.
Furthermore, all three Smartphones from the OPPO Reno 4 Series clearly demonstrate their power efficiency through the ViserMark testing protocol. By combining light bodies, 4000 mAh batteries and mid to high-end processors, particularly on wide screens, often causes a compromise in the Battery Life performance.
OPPO succeeded to overcome this challenge by achieving an incredibly good integration of all components to maintain a high level of quality experience relating to Battery Life.
