Battery Performance

Introduction

With a price of around 300 EURO, the Realme 8 Pro is classed as a Mid Tier smartphone in the ViserMark ranking (Smartphones priced between 200-500 EURO). The Qualcomm SM7125 Snapdragon 720G powers the smartphone. To ensure autonomy, the Realme 8 Pro has a battery capacity of 4500 mAh. Realme chose to keep the same display as the Realme 7 Pro with a refreshing rate of 60 Hz, which is an unpredictable choice compared with its main competitors that offer 120/90 Hz or even the old Realme 6 Pro version that was at 90 Hz.

The overall Battery Performance Score is now a global score taking calculations from Battery Life, Power Efficiency and Charging Times.

From the Realme 8 Pro test results, we have given this Smartphone a ViserMark score of 59. The Battery Performance Label, being nearer 100 indicates that it is one of the best-performing ones and has been ranked in 7th place of the best Battery Performance Smartphones as tested by SmartViser.

Testing Results

BATTERY LIFE - Days of Use

The Realme 8 Pro reached around 59 hours of autonomy through the ViserMark test protocol with a 60 Hz refreshing rate, obtaining a Battery Life score of 2.5 Days of Use.

The average Day of Use ViserMark score of a Mid Tier smartphone is “2” Days. This score places the Realme 8 Pro Smartphone at the Top of the ViserMark Mid Tier ranking, very close to its main competitors.

CHARGING TIME - Hours and Minutes

The charging time to 100% was an impressive 55 minutes, with the 50W fast charge option included, this exactly matches the value advertised by the manufacturer.

The average Charging Time is 1:36 for a Smartphone within the ViserMark Mid Tier. The Realme 8 Pro makes it to 4th place of the top 10 quickest Battery Charging Times for Smartphones within this Mid Tier. Also, the Realme 8 Pro remains in the top 10 when compared to all Charging Times of the Smartphones that ViserMark has tested to date.

Test Graphics

Our testing is based on real smartphone usage from 100% battery level down to Power Off. When testing Smartphones, the testing protocol includes common daily life activities, for instance: Calls, Web, Video and Music streaming, Gaming, Social networks, Picture & Video capture and standby.

All testing is performed under strictly controlled test conditions with all activities being executed in a defined order and timeline.

Realme 8 Pro Test Graphics

There are a number of power-efficient processors, within today's Smartphones, that are able to cope with the growing number of new applications and can support high-resolution displays without compromising battery life.

Power Efficiency is calculated using Battery Life and Battery Capacity. This is expressed in “Leaves" and reflects a rating between 1 being least and 5 being the most power-efficient.

The Realme 8 Pro achieved an overall Power Efficiency Score of 2 and therefore makes it into the top 5 of the most Power Efficiency Smartphones within the Mid Tier.

Conclusion

With an overall Battery Performance Score of 59, the Realme 8 Pro, a Mid Tier Smartphone is ranked 7th for being the best Smartphone with the Best Battery Performance. Also, when compared only to other Mid Tier Smartphones it reaches 3rd place, only slightly behind the Samsung M51 and the Wiko View 5 Plus that both have a larger battery capacity. Its performance is even superior to some of its main competitors with a 4500 mAh battery, such as the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro with a Battery Performance Score of 50 or the OnePlus 8T with 51 as a score.

In conclusion, the Realme 8 Pro Battery Performance is very impressive offering high battery life autonomy with a very fast charge option.
