In previous years OnePlus has launched two high tier devices, the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro. The OnePlus 9, and the OnePlus 9 Pro arrive as evolved versions of these past Smartphones. The OnePlus 9 offers high-tier features while keeping a lower price than its big brother, the OnePlus Pro.

Introduction

The OnePlus 9 is classed as a High-Tier device in the ViserMark ranking table, (Smartphones priced between 500 and 700 EURO), with a price just over 500 EURO. The OnePlus 9 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset offering 5G connectivity. To assure enough autonomy a 4500 mAh battery powers the device.

The overall Battery Performance Score is now a global score taking calculations from Battery Life, Power Efficiency and Charging Times.

Based on various test results, we have given this Smartphone a ViserMark score of 47. This score places the Smartphone device in the middle part of ViserMark overall ranking, 21 points below the leader. However, compared with other high tier devices, the OnePlus performance is just 3 points below the High-tier champion.

BATTERY LIFE - Days of Use

The OnePlus 9 autonomy was over 37 hours with a 120 Hz refreshing rate compared with the 38.5 hours with a 600 Hz refreshing rate.

Based on the ViserMark test protocol, The OnePlus 9 device achieved a score of 1.5 days.

The average Day of Use ViserMark score of High-Tier devices is “1.6” days which places the OnePlus 9 just slightly below the average score.

CHARGING TIME - Hours and Minutes

The charging time to 100% was 32 minutes, with the 65W fast charge option included. A performance very close to the 30 mins advertised by OnePlus.

The average Charging Time is 1:10 for a Smartphone within the ViserMark High-Tier ranking. Given its results, the OnePlus 9 has become nearly the fastest High-Tier device in terms of charging time.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the OnePlus 9 offers an average battery performance, with superb charging time for other devices to compete with. The OnePlus 9 Smartphone autonomy offers an average performance of 1.5 days and its Power Efficiency score is slightly underperforming. However, this Smartphone charged to 100% in 32 minutes, making this the fasting charging Smartphone within the ViserMark reviews.

Compared with other High-Tier devices, the OnePlus 9 is behind competitors such as the Huawei P40 Pro and Google Pixel 5 in terms of autonomy. Interestingly, it also remains behind its previous Smartphone generation (OnePlus 8) which offered 2 days of Battery Life, however, the OnePlus 9 does offer a faster charging time.
