Overview


After working on this technology for several years, OPPO has now launched the

OPPO Find N2 Flip smartphone into the foldable market, competing against bigger brands like Samsung. With excellent performance, good battery life and key features, it can match the popular Samsung Z Flip 4 and may be favoured as an attractive foldable alternative.

In the Flagship/Pro Tier (€700+), the OPPO Find N2 Flip takes place in the high-end category for similarly priced smartphones. It is a compact, lightweight flip phone that can easily fit in a pocket or purse. The phone has a solid and compact build quality, is easy to hold and use with one hand, and weighs 191g.


The Oppo Find N2 Flip is a smartphone with an innovative flip design. It has a high-quality look and feels well-built, providing durability to withstand daily wear and tear. When unfolded, the 6.8-inch display looks like a full-sized smartphone and an anti-fingerprint coating stops smears from appearing on the screen. The crease on its screen is hardly noticeable, thanks to the Flexion Hinge with a waterdrop design. Having a Reticular Matrix Plate, it slides out of the way when the phone is closed and locks back into place, closing completely flat, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. OPPO state that the hinge will work for more than 400,000 folds - this equates to the device being opened and closed 100 times a day for 10 years!


One of the standout features of the OPPO Find N2 Flip is the camera system. Often foldable smartphones suffer from insufficient camera functionality and quality. However, this is not the case with this smartphone. Powered by Sony's IMX890 sensor (as used in the OnePlus 11), the OPPO's MariSilican X imaging NPU assists with image processing. Although lacking in optical image stabilisation, OPPO's camera technology is impressive. The hinge mechanism can support the phone at any angle between 45 and 110 degrees, enabling interesting camera usage, including tripod mode, waist-level shooting and 'camcorder' mode. The OPPO Find N2 Flip could be a direct comparison to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4.


Despite being half the size, the OPPO Find N2 Flip comes in a similar package as the larger OPPO Find N2. Inside, the contents are similar, except for the case. Two transparent hard plastic snap-on covers are included, one for each half of the device. It is also shipped with a 44W SUPERVOOC PD charger and cable.

With comparative foldable smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Motorola Razr, and now the OPPO Find N2 Flip now available, we will soon share our testing results, looking specifically at the battery performance of foldable smartphones.


In our recent testing, the battery performance test results delivered an overall score of

38 out of a hundred for the OPPO Find N2 Flip. When viewing the ViserMark Flagship/Pro Tier (€700+) tier, other manufacturers with the latest regular smartphones have similar results, as shown in the chart below.

As you can see, the OPPO Find N2 Flip obtained the same overall battery performance score of 38 as the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S23+; however, the Xiaomi 13 Pro achieved only 1 mark higher with a 39 out of one hundred.


This makes for an interesting and closely matched smartphone review. Let's take an in-depth view of our testing results and battery performance for these varied smartphones.

Battery Life


Battery Life - How long will this Smartphone battery last?


The Battery Life ViserMark Label displays the “Days-of-Use” in both actual days and provides accurate information in hours. It reflects the usage of a smartphone from a full charge.

The OPPO Find N2 Flip has a battery capacity of 4300mAh, and the cells are positioned on either side of the hinge with the smartphone. It can last 1.5 days of usage, translating into 36 hours. OPPO does state that the batteries can maintain at least 80% of their original capacity for a minimum of 800 full charge cycles and offers a repairable battery service with replacements available and trade-in options.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro delivers the same 1.5 days of usage, equally 46 hours when comparing similar smartphones. However, having the largest battery capacity of 4820mAh may contribute towards the additional 10 hours of usage over the OPPO Find N2 Flip with 36 hours. The Samsung Galaxy S23+ has 4700mAh, only a slightly smaller battery capacity, yet delivers half a day more, with 49 hours delivered.


A short time ago, ViserMark introduced the Hours metric to the Battery Life ViserMark Label to provide further detail about battery usage; consequently, the Xiaomi 13 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S23+ are much more comparative than previously considered.


Regarding performance, all three devices run on the latest Android 13 version, although the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets support the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S23+. The OPPO Find N2 Flip has a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chip that sometimes runs slower than Qualcomm. Considering this and having the smallest battery capacity of the three devices, it competes well with the overall battery performance score acquired.

The OPPO Find N2 Flip has a battery capacity of 4300mAh, larger than other foldable smartphones, such as the Samsung Z Flip, with 3700mAh. OPPO supplies the 44W SuperVOOC charging to provide a 50% charge in 24 minutes and a full charge in an hour.

As OPPO states, all tests are performed in OPPO labs. The actual charging time may vary depending on differences in environments or individual devices (such as temperature variations and battery age).


As you can see in the chart below, the OPPO Find N2 Flip took over 2 hours to charge its 4300mAh battery during our testing protocol using ViserMark independent lab. The Xiaomi 13 Pro was not far behind, with the Samsung Galaxy S23+ trailing the 3 devices.

When tested, the OPPO Find N2 Flip gained a 1 out of 5 battery efficiency score. This matches all 3 comparative devices when tested for battery efficiency.

Should I buy it?


OPPO has finally introduced its first foldable smartphone into a competitive foldable market. Having worked hard on its technology, the OPPO Find N2 Flip delivers on performance, battery life and camera functionality at an even more competitive price. Considering that other regular smartphones are also available in the Flagship/Pro Tier, this smartphone challenges impressively well on overall battery performance.


With its large screen, the OPPO Find N2 Flip display is 6.8 inches vs 6.73 inches of the Xiaomi 13 Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy S23+ is smaller. Also, at 191g, it remains the lightest of all three devices. Despite having the smallest battery capacity, it performs well on battery life and has a respectable Flagship/Pro 120Hz refresh rate. Although it has a good camera setup, it may disappoint in image quality compared to the Samsung Galaxy S23+ and Xiaomi13 Pro camera capabilities.


Regarding versatility, the OPPO Find N2 Flip gives users the option of "Functionality at the Fingertips" with many Smart Widgets, such as One-Swipe Display or a Quick High-Res Selfie. Being new and still innovative, the foldable technology used in the OPPO Find N2 Flip may be less durable than standard smartphones, with only splash resistance and lacking IP ratings. Perhaps a little more care and attention are required.


Although the OPPO Find N2 Flip is not perfect, it can offer a unique and different user experience, introducing more creativity and flexibility, especially when multitasking daily tasks. This smartphone is ideal for people who want to enjoy new ways of using a smartphone.
