The most notable change in design is the placement of the dual circular camera lenses, which are now arranged horizontally in the upper-left corner instead of vertically. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 has a glossy black due to the expanded cover display, creating a subtle colour palette with less intensity.

The Mint colour option is available, but more vibrant choices like blue, green, grey, and yellow are only offered on Samsung.com. A thinner profile has improved the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 design thanks to the updated water-drop hinge. This allows the phone to close completely flat, resulting in a 2mm reduction in thickness compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. The hinge maintains the sturdy Flex Hinge feel and allows for Flex Mode, which optimises the user interface placement.

Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is still resistant to water with an IPX8 rating, and it features Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for durability. However, the phone now has a reflective glass finish instead of a textured one, which makes it more susceptible to minor scratches. Despite the lack of official dust protection certification, independent tests have shown that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 can withstand over 400,000 folds.

It may not be as sturdy as a traditional smartphone nor ideal for those prioritising long battery life, versatile photography, or extensive external screen features.
